Merry Christmas from the Sharptons
We hope your holidays are full of joy and happiness.
Things continue to roll along at the Sharptons’ home.
One of the highlights of the summer was when our family vacationed in Portland, OR, enjoying the beach, the city, and the mountains (all within a two hour drive of each other). We stayed a few nights at Timberline Lodge on Mt. Hood where external shots for The Shining movie were filmed. During our visit, we enjoyed connecting with nephew Matt and Megan Klepp and their two boys. You can see a slide show of our visit below.
We also did some major work on our backyard here in Charlotte. Sure, the construction crews tore up our grass, causing almost more damage than good, and the project took much longer than we expected, but when it was all over, we had extended the deck on our house, added a hot tub, constructed a fire pit in the woods behind our house and included a beautiful water feature – a series of small cascading falls emptying into a pool. It’s really quite nice.
Nikki and Jonny are both seniors this year. Nikki will graduate from Samford University and then move on to a job or graduate school. She interned this past summer at Extended Stay in Sales and Marketing. She also was recently inducted into Beta Gamma Sigma, an honor for top business students worldwide
Jonny will complete his high school years at Cuthberson HS in June. He participated in a mission trip this past summer to Costa Rica and met a wonderful girl, now girlfriend, Lauren, who attends another High school nearby. He’s getting ready to attend one of four colleges to which he has applied (early acceptance at NC State, deferred at UGA, and still waiting news from UNC Chapel Hill and Clemson).
Extended Stay America hotels continues to challenge Kay. She helped take the company public late last year (NYSE - STAY) and is working hard to keep the investors informed and happy. Change is always happening in her organization and she’s great at managing it.
Ben had some luck with his second book, The 3rd Option, which hit the market last year. This novel won several awards, including the Reviewer’s Choice Award - SE Region (Readers’ View), First Place - Action category (Readers’ Favorite), First Place - Urban/Edgy Paranormal category (Chanticleer) and Honorable Mention - Action/Adventure category (ForeWord Reviews). He is now shopping two books to agents with hopes of getting representation in the next few months.
We wish you all a very Merry Christmas and hope the next year is a wonderful one for you.
Love,
The Sharptons
P.S. Peanut and Grace are doing fine.
